WHEN IS IT TAKING PLACE?

Between July 20th and August 20th. The first match is between New Zealand and Norway.

WHERE IS THE WORLD CUP BEING HELD?

For the first time, it will take place in two countries: Australia and New Zealand.

HOW MANY NATIONAL TEAMS WILL PARTICIPATE?

There are 32 in total, the highest number of teams in the tournament’s history. They have been split into eight groups with four teams each.

WHAT GROUP IS BRAZIL IN?

In group F together with France, Jamaica, and Panama. The first matches for the Brazilians in the group stage are:

• 24/7, 8 am – Brazil x Panama

• 29/7, 7 am – France x Brazil

• 2/8, 7 am – Jamaica x Brazil

HOW DOES THE TOURNAMENT WORK?

In the first stage, teams play against the other teams in their groups. The teams that come in first and second in the group move on to the knockout stage. Starting in the knockout stage, the matches are “sudden death”: the team that loses is disqualified.

HISTORY

The first Women’s World Cup took place in 1970 in Italy but was not organized by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The tournament’s second edition was held in 1971 in Mexico. Denmark won both years. The first edition of the Women’s World Cup organized by FIFA took place only in 1991 in China. The United States won and are still the national team with the most wins, four world cups. Brazil has participated in all editions and its best placement was in 2007 when it came in second after losing the final by 2 x 0 to Germany.

WORLD CUP ALBUM

The official album for the Women’s 2023 World Cup by Panini is already available. There are 80 pages and 580 stickers – the largest ever for the tournament. A virtual and free version of the album is also available through the Fifa Panini Collection App.
