On March 6th, the public library in the town of Worcester, in the United States, posted an unusual offer on its official Instagram account. Readers who owe fines for damaging or losing books will be able to pay them by showing pictures of cats (regardless of whether they are the owners or not).
According to the institution, the initiative started as a fun solution when the number of library fines increased significantly due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Drawings and illustrations of other animals such as dogs, raccoons, and even capybaras will also be accepted as payment.
