Registration for the VI Children’s National Literary Contest – Espantaxim Award 2020 is now open. Young people aged 7 to 12 from anywhere in Brazil are invited to write an essay, a message or poetry about “The Four Seasons”.

For the essay category, those registered have to submit a real or imaginary story that has the author’s favorite season as a setting. Those interested in writing a message need to submit a text that expresses their feelings regarding the four seasons or one of them in particular. Also, authors who choose poetry need to describe how the arrival of their favorite season brings up inspiring feelings in them.

The texts need to be sent to the judging committee by email or by mail by June 5th. Altogether, 250 works will be chosen and there will be three award categories: winners, standouts, and selected.

Winners will receive a trophy, a mascot doll, and three copies of the VI Antologia Espantaxim e o Castelinho Mágico, a book that will compile all the selected works from the contest. Those who are selected will get a mascot and three copies of the anthology. For the “standout” category, works will be chosen based on criteria such as originality, creativity, and poetry.

The results of the contest will be disclosed on the Espantaxim site in the first half of November. The award ceremony will take place on April 17th, 2021 at Sala São Paulo, in the capital of São Paulo state.
