On April 2 9th, another edition of Pesquisa Game Brasil, a research study that analyzes the behavior of Brazilian gamers, was published. Exactly 14,825 people (over the age of 16) from 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District were interviewed regarding their relationship with electronic games. This time, the data pointed out that the number of gamers in Brazil has decreased.

In 2022, 74.5% of those interviewed replied that they used games. This figure dropped to 70.1% in 2023. It is believed that this was because Covid-19 restrictions were relaxed, thus enabling people to have more entertainment options and spend less time at home.

While the Ministry of Education in Japan claims to be concerned with gamers spending too much time in front of screens, the survey points to a different scenario in Brazil. Among those who play videogames, 67.1% have the habit of exercising and 15.2% say they go to museums and exhibitions at least once a month.

Gaming Device

Smartphones were the favorite device for games and are the most used by 51.7% of those interviewed. Consoles and computers almost tied at 20.5% and 19.4%. Other devices, such as Smart TV and virtual reality glasses, came in at 8.4%.

Those who prefer using cell phones to play were more likely to play every day. In the last few years, major manufacturers, including Riot and Nintendo, have increased their investment in smartphone games, which could explain the phenomenon.

Pesquisa Game Brasil has been carried out once a year since 2013. It is conducted by SX Group, Go Gamers, Blend New Research in partnership with ESPM college.
