The noise came from the Hunga Tonga-Hunga volcano, in the kingdom of Tonga, in January 2022. The sound travelled more than nine thousand kilometers (about the distance between the cities of São Paulo, Brazil and Paris, France) and surpassed that of another volcano in 1883.

…THERE ARE THREE TYPES OF VOLCANIC ACTIVITY? The effusive eruption is calmer, the lava is more fluid and less gas is released. In the explosive eruption, lava flows with difficulty, which generates a release of gases. And then there is the mixed one, which alternates between explosive and effusive phases.
