A scene from the Disney movie “Prom Pact” has caused controversy on the X social media platform (formerly Twitter) and TikTok. In a segment of the film, extras created through Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be seen in the bleachers at a basketball game. The avatars’ appearance was considered “bizarre” by several users who criticized the use of AI to simulate real people in films.

The film was released in March 2023, but the scene made with the help of technology went viral on social media in the first weeks of October. On October 13th, The Hollywood Reporter, for example, published an article about this topic.
