On May 5th, Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) was called many times by residents of the city of Kiangua about a lion that was loose in the vicinity. The feline, according to the allegations, was hiding in a hedge (made of plants).
When it arrived at the scene, the rescue team approached the lion from a safe distance and saw that it was, in fact, a reusable shopping bag. The object had a very realistic lion print, which confused people. “Despite being a false alarm, we commend the public for raising an alarm to mitigate [contain] a potential conflict,” the organization posted on its social media accounts.
