A fan took on the role of fourth referee during a game between Wolverhampton and Brentford in the Football Association (FA) Cup. The match took place on January 16th in Molineux, the stadium in Wolverhampton, the English town after which the team was named.
An assistant referee was injured during the match (which was a knockout match in the tournament). That is why Ross Bennet, a Wolverhampton fan who was in the stands, offered to help. Ross was once a referee in youth team games. He did a quick training to learn, for example, how to use the board when players are substituted. The match finished 3-2 for Wolverhampton.
