An emu (a species of land bird, also known as the Australian emu) named Esmeralda escaped from her home in the town of Calera, in Alabama state, United States, after fighting with her sister (another emu).

This was not the first time Esmeralda ran away. She is already known by locals for her escapades. On January 10th, a post on Facebook by the “Cidade de Calera” account explained that Esmeralda was found and that she made peace with her sister. Sue Sanford, the birds’ guardian, said she is moving to a larger property, which could stop new escapes from happening.
