Starting in 2020, the United States’ National Space Agency (NASA) will allow ordinary citizens to visit certain parts of the International Space Station (ISS). The tours will be organised by other companies, such as Boeing and SpaceX. NASA will charge the companies close to 35 thousand dollars (about 135 thousand reais) per night. Therefore, the trips might be even more expensive for tourists.

Meanwhile, it is expected that there will only be two trips every year, each lasting up to 30 days. The travellers will be selected by the companies that organise the voyages.

One of the goals of the project is to raise funds so NASA can continue its operations. According to data from the American space agency, the cost for an astronaut to use the bathroom and have survival services (such as oxygen) at the ISS is close to 43 thousand reais a day. That is why, aside from tourism, NASA also intends to “rent out” parts of the ISS to shoot ads and films.
