Japanese photographer Nyankichi Rojiupa likes a certain kind of activity on weekends. He visits street cats and takes pictures of them when they play in manholes.

It all started in 2013. Nyankichi was out on a walk and saw a group of cats that were playing and making a mess as they jumped in and out of manholes. It started as a game for the photographer, but now he has hundreds of images on his Instagram account. His account now has close to 110 thousand followers.

In the beginning, the cats were scared of people when they got close. Now they are so comfortable that they let the photographer play with them. Nyankichi has repaid the friendship making sure that the street animals always get food. To check out the pictures, look up @nyankichi5656 on Instagram.
