Uber will open a laboratory in Paris, France to develop flying cars. The company also has research locations in Los Angeles and Dallas, in the United States. It wants to launch the first flying cars in 2023.

The company will invest close to 85 million reais altogether in the new lab. It chose France because of its high number of qualified engineers. The cars will start being tested in 2020, but only in American cities, because Paris did not agree to have the tests there.

With this new technology, Uber hopes to offer an alternative so passengers can be transported in less time and with less traffic. Traffic is currently a global problem. The expectation is that cars will be driverless and carry up to four passengers. Departures will take place on top of buildings.
