The state of Minnesota in the United States will start to encourage its residents to cultivate plants that attract bees, including wildflowers, clovers, and plants that are typical of the region. The goal is to control the decrease in the number of insects. To do this, the government will be responsible for at least 75% of the costs of planting. The program is expected to start when it is spring in the northern hemisphere (that is, in the Brazilian autumn).

With this initiative, it will be possible to feed and help preserve bees, since some species are on the brink of extinction. The government of Minnesota has also asked that people stop using herbicides and mowing grass too often. Herbicides are products that prevent unwanted plants – weeds – from growing. For bees, gardens should be as natural as possible.

One of the main concerns in terms of the drop in the number of bees worldwide has to do with pollination – the process through which these insects (among other animals) carry pollen from flower to flower, helping plants reproduce.
