During the Covid-19 pandemic, visiting new places has become more difficult. To enable people to travel by car or virtually, Turkish university student Erkam Seker created the platform Drive and Listen in which users experience the sensation of circulating through cities inside a car.

The project was named this way because those who access the platform have the chance to listen to the traffic noise and local radio at each of the places through which they “travel” in addition to being able to view the landscape.

Recording of the tours come from YouTube videos and usually show streets without tourist sites. The idea is to take users through the experience of getting to know each place and not just through its most famous areas. 

In order to give the feeling of being a passenger on the trip, the videos are shown through the perspective of the passenger who is in the front seat. Another tool that enhances the feeling of being in the car is the possibility of increasing or decreasing the speed of the video – which simulates the vehicle going faster or slower.

There are over 40 cities to visit, including Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, New Delhi (India), Istanbul (Turkey), London (England), San Francisco (United States), and Wuhan (China). To check it out, go to: www.drive-listen.com.
