No dia 13 de fevereiro, o site Sportico, especializado em cobrir negociações esportivas, divulgou a lista dos 100 atletas mais bem pagos do mundo em 2024. Como era de se esperar, o jogador de futebol Cristiano Ronaldo ficou no topo, com ganhos estimados em 260 milhões de dólares por ano, cerca de 1,5 bilhão de reais. 

Entre os brasileiros, quem apareceu mais alto na lista foi Neymar, em sexto lugar. Mesmo tendo passado a maior parte do ano passado longe dos campos para se recuperar de uma lesão, o atual camisa 10 do Santos recebeu o total de 133 milhões de dólares (770 milhões de reais) em 2024. Em 38º, está Vini Jr., do Real Madri, com 55 milhões de dólares (318 milhões de reais). 

Atletas de 27 países foram citados. Também foi destacado o ponto negativo de que nenhuma mulher apareceu na lista.
