Swede wins legal dispute about meteorite – Level 1

On March 21st, Johan Benzelstierna von Engeström won the legal dispute about who owns the 14-kilogram (kg) meteorite that fell on his farm in Uppland, Sweden, in November 2020. Two geologists took the space rock to the Swedish Museum of Natural History. Johan went to court to get the meteorite back and won the dispute. “[The Meteorite] cannot be easily separated from what is usually regarded as (immovable) property,” the jury said. The geologists said that they had an agreement with Johan, but this claim was not accepted.
