Brazilian skateboarder Rayssa Leal, known as the “skate fairy”, had a song written in her honor. The song “Eu Acredito em Fadas” (I believe in fairies), by singer Gabi Fernandes, is about the 13-year-old athlete and her dancing, playing, and having fun during competitions:

“She is the pride of Brazil / With her feet on a skateboard/ A smile on her face, you know how it is / And with a trophy in hand, she’s already used to it/ She does not walk onto the course, she goes in and performs / She goes playing at making history, and then she does.”

Rayssa became well-known when she was eight, after a video of her skateboarding wearing a fairy costume went viral – hence the nickname “fairy”. As a professional athlete, the skateboarder has had some important achievements, such as the silver medal from the Tokyo Olympics, which took place in July and August this year, and her win in the first stage of the 2021 season of the World Skate Street League (a modality in which skaters do maneuvers on items that are common on streets, such as handrails and benches).

The song written for Rayssa is not the first sports-themed song by Gabi Fernandes. In July, just before the start of the Tokyo Olympics, the singer released “Brasil Chegou!”, the official hit song of the Brazilian women’s soccer team.
