On February 7th, the 11th edition of Pesquisa Game Brasil (PGB), an annual survey of Brazilian electronic game consumption habits, was published. Between December 27, 2023 and January 17, 2024, 13,360 people, aged 16 and over, were interviewed online across all Brazilian states and the Federal District. The study also included questions on artificial intelligence (AI).

This year, the report showed that 73.9% of Brazilians are in the habit of playing electronic games — women comprise 50.9% of this figure and men 49.1%. There has been an increase in comparison to 2023, when the rate of Brazilians who played was 70.1%.

Among the 73.9% in the 2024 survey, the age bracket that plays the most is the one from 35 to 39 years old (16.9%), closely followed by the 30- to 34-year-olds (16.2%). The youngest in the survey, those between 16 and 19 years old, represent 10.2%. In terms of race, 44.6% of gamers describe themselves as White; 41.2% as mixed race; 11.2% as Black; 1.5% as Asian; 0.7% as Indigenous; the remainder chose the “other” option or preferred not to respond.
