The Museum of Tomorrow, in the city of Rio de Janeiro, was awarded for the third time the Leading Culture Destinations Award, considered the Oscar of museums. In 2022, the Brazilian institution was awarded in the “Digital Experience” category. The ceremony was held on April 7th, in Berlin, Germany. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark and the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art in Russia were also in the running.

This year, the Museum of Tomorrow was awarded because of the increased public access to its content through digital formats. This was done because of the covid-19 pandemic. For example, in just one year, the institution produced more than 80 hours of digital programming, including reflections about the new coronavirus.

“This award is a recognition of the Museum of Tomorrow’s dedication and connection with its audience, regardless of where they are. During the pandemic, (…) we provided quality content for information, reflection, and to promote the transformations we want for tomorrow”, said Ricardo Piquet, Executive President of the Institute for Development and Management (IDG), the organization that manages the Museum of Tomorrow.
