Forty-five-year-old South African Martin Hobbs spent 54 days straight in Lake Malawi so he could cross it. The lake is located between Malawi, Tanzania, and Mozambique. There were many challenges. Because of a tornado, there were very high waves in the lake which was also full of crocodiles.
Hobbs completed the 580 kilometre journey at the end of April. That is equivalent to the distance between the cities of São Paulo and Belo Horizonte. With the adventure, he broke two world records: he became the first person to swim across Lake Malawi and the longest distance in a lake.
