On March 29th, the League of Legends: Wild Rift, which is a mobile version of the popular electronic sport, was launched simultaneously in several countries, including Brazil. The game surpassed the 10 million mark in downloads on the day of its launch and went off the air for a few minutes because it could not handle all the players.

The mobile version was shown to the public on October 15^th, 2019 and promised a more dynamic experience with faster matches- unlike the original version, where it was common for a match to last 40 or 50 minutes. Waiting for more than a year only added to the fans’ anxiety.

According to Riot Games, the company responsible for the game, they made sure the version could run on older and cheaper phones. Devices launched in 2013, which do not support more recent apps, will not have problems with Wild Rift. The biggest restriction is that there can be no matches between computer and mobile users.

The available version is beta (name given to a game or application that is not yet completely ready). Therefore, some players may report faults and minor errors during matches.

Not all playable characters are available on Wild Rift. While the computer version has 150 of them, only 61 are on the mobile one. More characters will be added over time. “…in the future, definitely we’re very open and willing to look at doing unique champions to Wild Rift that don’t exist on the PC,” said Riot Games design director Brian Feeney in an interview with Comic Book.

About the game

League of Legends is a strategy game in which two teams, each with five people, need to protect their base while attacking their opponent´s base. Whoever has their base destroyed first, loses. The game is played so much that it already has several annual championships, including CBLOL, the largest national competition of its kind, which has been taking place since 2012.
