Residents of a Berlin neighborhood in Germany reported a series of possible shoe thefts on social media. The residents began to notice that pairs of shoes left out on balconies or outside their homes disappeared. The robber was discovered about two weeks later at the end of July.  It was caught in the act when it was seen with a blue slipper in its mouth. It was a fox that lived in the region.

The resident who saw the fox take the slipper decided to follow it to its den. He discovered, in the middle of a wooded area, that the animal had collected close to 100 shoes from the neighborhood. After the “thefts” were cleared up, those who lost their shoes were able to get them back from the fox’s den.
