The new coronavirus pandemic led a father and daughter to think of an alternative way for children to enjoy Halloween in Cincinnati, in the United States. The two created a small cardboard tube that turned the entry railing of the home’s entrance into a ramp for candy.

The goal is to maintain the American tradition of distributing goodies on the special day while also respecting social distancing. In a post on social media, the father, Andrew Beattie, said that the novelty could make the date more “normal” for his daughter and other children. He also said that he would wear a mask and gloves to protect against Covid-19 when handing out treats.

Halloween

This holiday is celebrated on October 31st and is known in Brazil by the same name. In the US, it is a tradition for children to dress up, go out in their neighbourhood, knock on doors, and ask for treats.

Because of the pandemic, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that people avoid Halloween parties this year to prevent crowds. The agency observed that the tradition of asking for treats from door to door poses a moderate risk of contagion. It has called for bags of candy to be left away from front doors for children to take.
