A Belgian farmer decided to move a stone about two meters. He had no idea what consequence his action would have. The stone is a landmark that divides France and Belgium. Moving it made the French lose part of their territory to the Belgians.

This mess started because whenever the man used his tractor, the stone was in the way. The new position of the stone was discovered in early 2021. Someone from the region was exploring the border and noticed the change. The story, however, only went viral on May 3rd.  The mayor of Erquelinnes, the Belgian municipality where the border is, posted what happened on social media.

Belgian authorities are now in touch with the farmer to resolve the issue.  According to local laws, he has to place the stone back in the original location himself.
