The American rock band Flaming Lips discovered a new way of performing during the new coronavirus pandemic: with the public inside inflatable bubbles to respect social distance. The idea came from the group’s lead singer. He had already rolled out bubbles to the audience before the pandemic.
The band’s first concert in this format took place in Oklahoma, in the United States, on January 22nd. Inside each bubble there were speakers (so that people could hear the show well), water bottles, a fan, and a flag to signal to the show’s staff in case anything was needed.
Some doctors, however, questioned if the bubbles were enough to protect people from Covid-19. This is because it is not clear how the air moves from inside to the outside of the bubble.
