An aquarium in Tokyo, Japan, asked people to do video calls with the garden eels that live there. The request was made after employees noticed the eels got scared when they saw humans. The eels were not used to humans anymore, since the aquarium closed to visitors in March because of the new coronavirus pandemic.

The eels started receiving calls on May 3rd. In two days, more than 200 million calls were made. To make the contact happen, aquarium employees placed five tablets in front of the fish tanks, where the calls were received. People showed their faces and talked to the eels during the calls. People were told to not talk too loudly or disturb the eels.
