Because they were not able to go to class in person due to the new Coronavirus pandemic, students at a school in Ostrava, Czech Republic, decided to create a replica of their school in Minecraft, a game in which users can build different structures. The results of the project can be seen on a video posted on the ghrabuvka ghrabuvka channel on January 22nd.

To build the replica, students asked teachers to send them photos of the school’s buildings, classrooms, other spaces, as well as a map of the location. Based on this, the students tried to replicate what they saw in the images in the game. In the end, they recorded a video in which they go over what was built, as if they were taking a tour of the school, with aerial images of the construction as well as the interior.

The entire project took about 200 hours to complete, which is equivalent to approximately eight full days of work.

At the end of December, the Czech Republic started its third lockdown (when many establishments are closed – except those considered essential – and people are restricted as to when they can go on the streets). The measure was adopted to prevent a further increase in the number of cases and deaths from the new Coronavirus. In December, the country hit the national record of new people infected by the disease, with 17,773 registered cases.
