A small dog was found swimming in the sea more than 200 kilometres from Thailand’s coastline. It was rescued by an off-shore oil platform team on April 12th.
The animal’s distance from the beach was approximately the same as the distance travelled driving a car for three hours between the cities of Brasilia and Goiânia in Goiás state. It is thought that the dog fell off a fishing boat, but the amount of time it spent in the sea is not known. The platform workers were able to pull the dog out using a rope that was tied to its neck. On the boat, he was given food and water, and named Boonrod (which means survivor).

Adoption
The dog disembarked in the port of Songkhla three days after his rescue. Veterinaries examined him and concluded that he was well.
Boonrod was taken in by an animal protection organisation that will care for him and put him up for adoption. On his social network page, Vitisak Payalaw, one of the people who took part in the rescue, said that he will take the dog home if nobody adopts him.
