An Argentine taxi driver’s conversation recently disrupted a radio broadcast by NASA’s (the American Space agency in the United States) International Space Station. The interference occurred through an Argentine radio taxi company that uses the UHF signal (the acronym in English for Ultra High Frequency). The space station antennas captured the conversation and two astronauts heard the taxi driver speak.
On April 19th, journalist Manuel Mazzanti posted part of the audio on his Twitter account. On the three-second recording, the Argentine says: “1-5-0, did you say, Irigoyen street?” According to ISS Tracker, the website that tracks the space station movements, satellites were orbiting close to Argentina’s territory when the transmissions got crossed.
