On august 7th, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) presented the new uniform models that will be used by the Brazilian team in the Qatar World Cup, which is set to begin on November 20th. The collection was named Garra Brasileira and the ad campaign featured celebrities such as player Philippe Coutinho and sprinter Paulo André.

The main shirt is like the classic model that is already in use by the team. It is yellow and has a print with spots shaped like a jaguar’s (an animal commonly found in Brazil), and green trim on the collar and sleeves. The shorts are blue with yellow numbers. The socks are white, with blue and green sections.

The alternate uniform consists of a blue shirt with green jaguar spots on the sleeves, white shorts with green numbering and blue socks with yellow and green details.

“Brazil’s new collection celebrates the courage and creativity of a team that never gives up – a team that reflects the best of Nike’s own culture of innovation,” said Aaron Barnett, Senior Product Director at Nike Global, the company that was responsible for developing the new model. According to the brand, the shirt is 100% made from recycled plastic bottle material.

CBF published a message on its social media stating that “inspired by the strength and beauty of the jaguar, the shirt unites all Brazilians”.

Sales started on August 8th, on the manufacturer’s website, and the first batch of the blue version sold out in just one hour. On August 12th, both styles were made available for purchase in major Brazilian stores.
