On February 11th, the German team Bayern Munich became the winner of the 2020 Club World Cup, winning their fourth championship title. The match, which was played against Tigres from Mexico, took place in Doha, Qatar and ended in 1-0.

The victory, however, was controversial. The only goal of the match was scored by Frenchman Benjamin Pavard in the 15th minute of the second half. It was considered irregular by many as the ball hit Lewandowski’s hand, a Bayern player who is Polish. Also, the play had been overturned by the possibility that Lewandowski was impeded. However, after checking the video referee (or VAR), the play was validated.

With the new title, Bayern became the second team with the most club World Cup victories. It is tied with Milan from Italy. Only Real Madrid is ahead with seven wins.
