The strong rains that poured down on the city of São Paulo between February 10th and 11th caused such intense floods that three fish were found on the runway of Campo de Marte, a city airport. The fish, of the catfish species, were spotted in puddles of water on the 12th after water levels there went down.

It is likely that the fish were carried to the airport’s runway because of the Tietê river’s overflow. The Tietê is one of the main rivers in the city, together with the Pinheiros river which also overflowed.

The three catfish were taken to the aquarium at Água Branca State Park. The park belongs to the Fishing Institute at the agriculture state department. To find out more about the floods, check out: bit.ly/joca-chuvas-SP
