Felipe Massa, 37, raced a total of 16 seasons in Formula One. He left the main category of world car racing at the end of 2017, and announced in mid-May that he will now race in Formula E, the electric car competition. The season started at the end of 2018.

Formula E was created in 2014. Its cars run on large batteries; they are not as loud as Formula One cars, which have engines that burn fuel. That way, the Formula E cars do not emit polluting gases and are more environmentally friendly.

Massa, who has already been on the Ferrari and Williams teams, signed up to race with Venturi. Formula E is a racing category under FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile), the global organization responsible for Formula One and a dozen of other speed championships, rallies, and car racing competitions.
