Encanto (dir. Charise Castro Smith, Byron Howard and Jared Bush, Disney, 2021) – By class G of the third year at E.E. Father Pasquale Filippelli, São Paulo (SP)

Encanto tells the story of a Colombian family called Madrigal whose home is invaded, and who is forced to move. Pedro (the grandfather) dies in sacrifice so that his family may survive.

The Madrigal family has magic as a tradition, but Mirabel is the only one who has not received this special talent as a child. For this reason, she always tries to help everyone, but she can never please her Abuela (grandmother).

On the day one of her cousins receives his special talent, she sees the family home splitting. Mirabel embarks on an adventure to discover what’s wrong with the house and to save everyone in the family.

We think the film is about a family that cares so much about everyone being perfect that they forget the main thing: love, affection, and companionship. It shows us that we do not need to have special talents to be perfect.
