Several residents of Des Moines, the capital of the state of Iowa, in the United States, took to the streets on August 1st to protest a recent restriction imposed by the city: residents are limited to raising a maximum of 12 chickens at home. During the demonstration, residents brought their roosters and hens to demand a change to the new law, which also seeks to ban the sounds emitted by these animals. Some of the signs read “chickens feed families”. After the protest, Des Moines representatives declared that they would revisit the rules.
