A nest with about 30 dinosaur eggs of the titanosaurus species was found in Uberaba (Minas Gerais state). Researchers from the Triângulo Mineiro Federal University (UFMT) discovered the first full dinosaur nest in Brazil – before, only isolated eggs had been found.

In a study published on March 24th in Scientific Reports, a publication that belongs to the scientific journal Nature, researchers concluded that the eggs belonged to the titanosaurus after analyzing the shell and comparing the findings with fossils of this species from other countries.

According to those who participated in the study, the discovery will help scientists better understand the characteristics of the titanosaurus. This includes reproduction and how they spread across all continents during their time on Earth.

Until now, fossils of titanosaurus nests have been found in countries such as India, France, and Argentina. However, most members of this species lived in South America.

Who were the titanosaurus?

Herbivorous (plant-eating) dinosaurs that inhabited the Earth during the Cretaceous period (between 145 and 66 million years ago). They could reach the height of 8 meters (about the height of a three-story building), 20 meters in length (about the size of two regular buses) and weigh over 40 tons (approximately the weight of a sperm whale).
