Marta, the striker, and Zagallo, the former coach and player, will both have  statues of themselves at the Brazilian National Team’s museum in the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The two new statues will be placed next to the one of Pelé that is already there.

A team recently visited Marta and Zagallo to take the measurements to prepare the life-size wax statues. They will be made in London, England, in the same place where Pelé’s statue was made.

According to the museum, 50 artisans are expected to work on the statues, which still have no date to be exhibited to the public because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The site will also have a new area that will be dedicated to the history of women’s football.

Voted six times the best player in the world, Marta is the greatest scorer, among women and men, in the history of the World Cup. Today, at age 34, she plays for Orlando Pride, in the United States.

Zagallo, 89, has won four World Cups: two as a player, one as a coach, and another one as an assistant coach. In 1992, he was given the Order of Merit by International Football Federation (FIFA).

What is the Brazilian National Team Museum?

Known as the CBF museum, it documents the story of the national team from its first game, in 1914, to the present. The space features videos, photographs, documents, uniforms, trophies, and interactive areas.
