Procedures to transform fish have become trendy in Singapore. To make fish “prettier”, specialists are carrying out small procedures like the one that lifts droopy eyes.

“I know some people think it’s cruel to fish, but really I’m doing them a favor,” said Eugene Ng, who is known as doctor Ark and is the owner of a fish store that carries out this operation. He also told the Today newspaper that: “Now the fish looks better, and its owner will love it even more.”

Generally, surgeries are done on a specific species, the Asian arowana, which is one of the most expensive species in the world. In Singapore, the fish symbolizes wealth, so many people are willing to spend thousands of dollars on a single specimen, and stores do everything they can to make the fish more attractive.
