… STRESS HAS A DIRECT IMPACT ON OUR ABILITY TO RECALL THINGS? When we are stressed, for example during an exam, our body releases a hormone called cortisol, which makes remembering difficult.

… HAVING A GOOD NIGHT’S REST HELPS MEMORIZE NEW INFORMATION? That is, spending the whole night studying for an exam, for example, is not a good idea. The ideal way would be to study regularly and sleep well before exams.

… THERE ARE TWO MAIN TYPES OF MEMORY: AN EXPLICIT ONE AND AN IMPLICIT ONE? The first corresponds to all the memories we have based on images, sounds, experiences, etc. – including the memory of a special day. The implicit one refers to the knowledge we can repeat automatically – for example, playing an instrument.

… THE PROCESS OF MEMORIZING NEW INFORMATION CAN BE DIVIDED INTO THREE STAGES? Encoding (learning) information, storing or consolidating it (the guarantee that it would become long term memory – which does not always happen), and evoking it (retrieving) this memory in the future.
