The South Koreans of BTS were the stars on the night of November 8^th during MTV’s Europe Music Awards (EMA) 2020. The EMA are one of the biggest pop music awards. The group won awards in the main categories: Best Song (for Dynamite), Best Group, Biggest Fans and Best Live Act.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the artists could not go to the site of the awards. BTS thanked their fans for their affection and celebrated through a video call. This year, EMA’s audience was virtual, and the musical performances were videos of singers such as Sam Smith and Alicia Keys.

Dynamite, a hit for the South Korean group that won in the Best Song category, is BTS’s first release in English. It reached number one on the Billboard charts. The South Korean government issued a statement that Dynamite may have been responsible for injecting $ 1.43 billion (about 7.81 billion reais) in the country’s economy.

However, despite their success, BTS did not win in all the categories in which it competed in the EMA. It lost in the Best Pop category to the girls from Little Mix, a band that also performed during the ceremony.
