Gabriel Medina is one of the most important Brazilian surfers these days. He won the first stage of the World Surf League in an artificial wave pool.

The event took place in California, in the United States. The competition between Medina and Filipe Toledo, another Brazilian, was very intense. Filipe ended up in second place, but he is still the leader of the League. The League will end in December. Kelly Slater is the American who had the idea for the artificial wave pool. Its objective is to offer perfect waves for competitors. The wave pool is considered the best pool ever. It took nine years to build it.
