On October 6th, during a match between Porto and Braga in the Portuguese championship, Gonçalo Cruz, a 14-year-old ball boy (someone who picks up balls thrown off the field and puts them back) ended up being voted best player of the match – because Gonçalo’s quick response enabled the Porto team to continue their attack and score against the opponent. At first, the best player award went to midfielder Nico González, who ended up giving the trophy to the young ball boy.
