The Pollution Control Committee in Sagarmatha – the park in Nepal where Mount Everest is located – announced on February 9th, for a BBC report, that from now on, mountain climbers will be obliged to use a plastic bag to collect their feces along the way and take them back down.
According to Mingma sherpa (sherpas are an ethnic group of Tibetan origin and many of them help people climb Everest), the president of the rural community of Pasang Lhamu, abandoned feces were getting in climbers’ way and causing bad smells.
