I wanted to recommend a book I wrote myself and which was released in May 2025. Laily, The Metamorphic Girl tells the story of a girl who discovers, at age 9, that she has the power to transform into whatever she wants. But with great power comes great responsibility! Laily must embark on a journey to escape a witch who wants to steal her power. So, with her six brothers and sisters, she will have to survive an adventure!

It’s a true story about Francisco José do Nascimento, a fisherman from Ceará born in 1839. He knew a lot about the sea, even about when the tide wasn’t right for fish. He saw the enslaved people in the harbor and felt a pain that ached in his heart. He learned to read very late, at the age of 20, and once he did, he discovered “new seas,” new stories. He was a great leader in the fight against slavery.

Once upon a time, a hunter tired of hunting tried to throw a party, but he had no instrument to play. Everyone was celebrating, and he was in his place. He tried to do some things with his bow and arrow, but he felt embarrassed. Then he hit the bow on a rock, “tum tum tum tom tom.” He broke half of his arrow, his bow, and with his gourd, he continued his party. We recommend this book to all music lovers or anyone interested in learning about their ancestors.
