On May 7, the Bronx Zoo in New York shared a video on Instagram showing a baby king vulture being fed by a puppet that imitates the animal’s mother. The technique is used so that the animal feels nurtured when receiving food, since its parents are absent. According to the institution, this approach has been used several times with other animals and brings great results. Also, the baby is kept close to an adult king vulture to learn the behaviors of its own species.
