At a hearing in New York, in the United States, Judge Sallie Manzanet-Daniels was caught by surprise when Jerome Dewalt showed a video with a lawyer generated by artificial intelligence. When she noticed the use of AI, the judge stopped the session and reprimanded Dewald, who admitted using an avatar. He later apologized in a letter, saying that because he had no lawyer, he thought AI would argue his case better than himself. Dewald also stated that he wanted to create an avatar that looked like him, but that he had not succeeded.
