Mary Cooper, an 81-year-old New Jersey resident in the United States, found a book borrowed from a library 99 years ago while going through her late mother’s belongings. The book, which teaches children how to make their own toys, was taken out by Mary’s grandfather in March 1926, a year before his death. Since she has no young children, she decided to return the book. The library no longer charges late fees but estimates that the fine would have costUS$18,000 (R$ 105,000).
