… ARTISTS HAVE THEIR OWN DIALECT? For example, a graffiti artist who is a beginner is called a “toy”, while imitating another artist’s style is known as “bite”.

…IS PART OF HIP-HOP CULTURE? It is one of the four elements of the movement, which also includes breakdancing (a type of dance), rap (a musical style), and DJs (an artist who creates and plays music using specific devices).

…IS VERY OLD? This form of cultural expression as we know it started in New York, in the United States, in the early 70s. However, the practice of drawing on walls has been around since prehistoric times.

…BRAZIL IS A REFERENCE IN GRAFFITI? The country is home to some of the most renowned graffiti artists who exhibit their work in art galleries in other countries. This is the case of the artist Kobra and the pair Os Gêmeos.
