Using a mechanical arm and artificial intelligence (AI), the robot Ai-Da created an oil painting of King Charles III of England, called Algorithm King. In 2022, she had already painted portraits of Queen Elizabeth II, Charles’s mother. Both works were exhibited in Switzerland during the United Nations AI for Good summit. Considered the world’s first ultra-realistic robot artist, Ai-Da was created by former gallery owner Aidan Meller and a team of nearly 30 people. In 2024, a portrait of mathematician Alan Turing painted by the robot sold for nearly $1.1 million (approximately R$6 million).
