On May 20, nuns and sisters Marizele Cassiano and Marisa de Paula appeared on a program on the TV Pai Eterno channel to promote a vocational retreat. To do so, they performed the song “Vocation to Love and Serve,” with Marizele doing beatboxing — typical hip-hop sounds made with her mouth — while Marisa improvised dance moves.

The video was viewed millions of times on the internet. Notable media outlets such as NBC News, BBC, and Associated Press covered the story. Famous actresses like Whoopi Goldberg — known for playing a nun in the film Sister Act — also commented on the video.
